Speaking your Truth via the Visuddha
Throat Chakra - Visuddha
The Throat Chakra is the fifth chakra and it is the first of the higher or spiritual chakras on the "chakra ladder". This chakra is located in the region of neck and shoulders and its color is blue.
The gift of this chakra is accepting your originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth. The energy of this chakra allows you to seek knowledge that is true, beyond limitations of time and space, beyond cultural and family conditioning.
The main challenge for the fifth chakra is doubt and negative thinking. When you gain and verify your knowledge through meditation and direct experience, then doubt and negativity are removed.
The "way of the Throat Chakra" is the way of inspired creativity, seeking and sharing of the truth.
It is the way of standing up for what you believe, saying no when you need to, and being open and honest in what you say. Do you dare to be creative? Do you dare to open up to a life full of infinite possibilities?
The fifth chakra is linked directly to your personal integrity and a sense of honor. As a communication center, it not only allows you to express who you are and what you stand for, but also allows you to listen deeply to another.
A person with an open Visuddha chakra is a good listener, she enables another person to have the experience of being heard - one of the most profound human needs.

The Throat Chakra is associated with your Self Expression and Communication.
When it is in balance, you are able to listen and communicate well. When you are having trouble expressing yourself, or having trouble with communication (being unable to say what you want to say to others and/or not truly listening to what you are being told) the throat chakra becomes imbalanced.
An imbalance will first resonate as a tingle, ache or sensitivity in the throat region. (Stemming from the base of the neck to the ears).
When your throat chakra is in balance:
You will have no problem expressing yourself in the world! You will be very creative, helpful, and may be good at offering people sound advice when it is asked for. You know what you want out of life and you are not afraid to ask for it, and what you ask for always seems to come to you with no, or little effort on your part! You are not afraid to express your weaknesses and people respect you for this. You are truly free when you can speak your truth.
Over-active Throat Chakra:
If your throat chakra is over-active you more than likely be over-opinionated, perhaps very critical of others and how they are performing in life. You may be verbally abusive to those around you and may find yourself yelling a lot when not necessary. You won’t allow others to “talk back” or voice their opinions about certain situations, it will be your way or no way.
Under-active Throat Chakra:
When under-active, you will be unable to express yourself and will often be misinterpreted or misunderstood by others. You will probably be “wishy-washy” or considered “flaky” or unreliable by the people in your life. Telling the truth and being honest with yourself is something you probably have a difficult time with, and giving mixed messages is likely something that has gotten you into trouble before. You won’t have a voice of your own and until you find balance within the throat chakra, your life will remain the same.
Physical symptoms of a Throat Chakra Imbalance:
Throat lump, laryngitis, sore throat, tonsillitis, teeth problems, thrush, jaw, earaches, ear problems, sinus infections, thyroid problems, arthritis in shoulders, sore shoulders or arms, neck problems, stress – may also exhibit an alcohol or drug dependency.
