Ghostly Ascension Reverberations

It is well known that there are people who are sensitive to and or can communicate with the spirit world. Likewise there are locations that are deemed haunted, where many experience icy interactions with those from beyond the veil. Personally, I have seen spirits since childhood, but my ability to communicate with them has increased in the last few years. Lately, many of my clients have shared that they were experiencing their first encounters following their awakening. I decided to write this post in the hopes that it will help prepare those individuals who are developing new psychic sensitivities as a result of ascension.

Ascension is the raising of our personal energy frequency. It occurs when we bring our layers of “light” from our Spiritual Body or Multidimensional God Self down into our physical form. As we integrate more of our true spiritual essence into our being we expand our auric field, chakra system and activate our dormant strands of DNA. This allows us to move into higher states of consciousness accessing a new reality or dimension within ourselves. Greater consciousness is “more” consciousness and each one of us has the exact same potential to activate and tap into our higher states of consciousness. Greater consciousness means greater connection to our God Selves and a deeper understanding of the universe. Ascension and the raising of our vibration is a personal spiritual choice. Each of us has the very same potential to ascend; it is a matter of our own free will choice and the intention to allow ourselves to do so. All souls eventually move into greater states of consciousness.

As we raise our vibrations and ascend into higher levels of consciousness we may experience some discomfort emotionally, mentally and physically. We are transforming our dense lower vibrating carbon based cells into higher vibrating crystalline “light filled” cells. We are going through an alchemical process of body, mind and spirit. As we ascend, we transcend karma. Everything that is ready to be released will be brought up for review bringing about a change in our life experience. Old relationships, activities, jobs, belief systems, place of residence etc. which may no longer serve your highest good. This is a positive experience and will result in tremendous personal growth even though it may be uncomfortable and chaotic at times. In order to ascend we must open ourselves up to change and step into a place of surrender and allowance. All discomfort is temporary! Eventually, everyone choosing to ascend into the higher states of consciousness will move into a state of health, harmony, joy, peace, spiritual abundance, full consciousness and unity consciousness.

One of these experiences in an Increase in psychic development and awareness. The ability to see beyond the veils may be emotionally disturbing if you are not accustomed to the truth of reality. These are natural abilities that will be returning to all of us who are choosing to awaken and expand our consciousness. Be accepting of this process and do not resist. Work through your fears. We have earned the return of our spiritual gifts, welcome them! It may help you to find a group where you can talk about these experiences without anyone placing judgment on them. Some people have extreme fear of psychic abilities and some feel these abilities should never be discussed and should remain a secret. We are in the midst of planetary ascension! The truth is being revealed and we are returning to our divine inheritance and potential! It is time to share these experiences so we can reduce the trauma, shock and fear that occurs when people begin to experience the truth of reality. Many people are afraid of the prospect of seeing a ghost, so it is wise to become knowledgeable and prepare yourself as this ability awakens in yourself.

You've seen them depicted in movies, read stories of their unnerving activities and have seen television shows and documentaries sensationalizing them. You have probably seen rare photos of them and have likely heard of first-hand ghostly encounters from friends and relatives.

But what are ghosts? Truthfully, no one knows for sure.

There are, however, many theories to explain the thousands upon thousands of documented experiences that people around the world have had since the beginning of recorded history. Ghosts and hauntings seem to be a relatively common part of the human experience. And there appear to be several types of ghosts or hauntings and more than one theory might be needed to explain them all.

The two words “ghosts” and “spirits” have been used inter-changeably for hundreds of years, but we have found there is a difference between them. The word ghost is derived from the Anglo-Saxon gast, while the word spirit is from the Latin spiritus.

As language developed, the term ghosts came to be used more and more in describing the manifestation of someone known (maybe a relative or friend), their soul appearing after that person's death of the body. A spirit, on the other hand, was typically understood as the appearance of an unfamiliar person, maybe an angel or unknown entity. Both types might appear while the witness was awake, having a vision or experiencing a dream.

What Are Ghosts?

Ghost investigators, on the other hand, sometimes, look at ghosts and spirits differently. In the ghost hunting community, ghosts are disembodied people who remain “stuck” in this physical world, usually due to trauma or unfinished business here on earth. They have not moved on into the light after the death of their physical body and are still attached to people, things or events that occurred in the past. The key word with this is past, as the past seems to hold them here, not allowing the ghost to look to the present or future which might cause them to move beyond their prior physical life. For whatever reason, they cannot let go of the earthly realm and either need direction or are looking for assistance in delivering a message or fixing a situation.

Also known as "intelligent hauntings," these ghosts exist in a kind of limbo state in which they haunt the scenes of their deaths or locations that were pleasant to them in life. Very often, these types of ghosts are able to interact with the living. They are, on some level, aware of the living and react to being seen on the occasions that they materialize. Some psychics claim to be able to communicate with them. And when they do, they often try to help these spirits to understand that they are dead and to move on to the next stage of their existence.

Residual Hauntings

Some ghosts appear to be mere recordings on the environment in which they once existed. A Civil War soldier is seen on repeated occasions staring out a window at a house where he once stood guard. A dead child's laughter is heard echoing in a hallway where she often played. There are even cases of ghost cars and trains that can still be heard and sometimes seen, even though they are long gone. These types of ghosts do not interact with or seem to be aware of the living. Their appearance and actions are always the same. They are like spirit-level recordings that replay over and over again.

Messengers

Prior to my awakening, this type of ghost was my most common experience, I would awake at night to the face of a friend or loved one and the next day I would hear of their passing. These kinds of ghosts may be the most common. These spirits usually appear shortly after their deaths to people close to them. They are aware of their deaths and can interact with the living. They most often bring messages of comfort to their loved ones, to say that they are well and happy and not to grieve for them. These ghosts appear briefly and usually only once. It is as if they intentionally return with their messages for the express purpose of helping the living cope with their loss. Upon hearing of my mother’s passing I was flooded with absolute calmness and knew it was her helping me with her loss. I also felt the moment that she passed as an outer body experience, but that’s another story.

Poltergeists

This type of haunting is the most feared by people because it has the greatest ability to affect our physical world. Poltergeists are blamed for unexplained noises, such as wall-banging, rapping, footsteps and even music. They take our possessions and hide them, only to return them later. They turn on faucets, slam doors, turn lights on and off and flush toilets. They throw things across rooms. They have been known to pull on people's clothing or hair. The malevolent ones even slap and scratch the living. It is because of these sometimes "mean-spirited" manifestations that poltergeists are considered by some investigators to be demonic in nature. Please see more details below.

What’s a Spirit?

In contrast, spirits live in the light, a higher, ethereal realm. To many ghost investigators, a spirit is someone who has moved beyond this world and death, having passed into the light and having undergone a life-review. Spirits understand the transition from one plane unto another and know they are spirit. Spirits are no longer full of earthly fears. Issues of their former physical existence have been worked through or are being worked out. Peace, love and joy are being experienced. We are watched over by spirits who exist from beyond the earth plane. They work to comfort us, guide us and observe our lives. These spirits tend to be loved ones, family, and friends – but, some are also known to be spirit guides or angels.

Projections

Many skeptics believe that haunting experiences are products of the individual's mind. Ghosts, they say, are psychological phenomena; we see them because we expect to or want to see them.

A grieving widow sees her dead husband because she needs to; she needs the comfort of knowing that he is alright and happy in the next world. Her mind produces the experience to help itself cope with the stress of the loss. Since we know so little about the power and capacity of our own minds, it's possible they are imagined, but like so many things we believed to be myths or unreal, have been scientifically proven. I know they are real and many more of us will experience them as we transcend.

DETERMINING THE DIFFERENCE between poltergeist activity and ghost

Determining the difference can be difficult. While ghost and haunting activity is the result of spirit energy, poltergeist activity - also known as "recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis" or RSPK - is the result of psychic energy generated (usually unconsciously) by a person, referred to as an agent.

But how do you know there might be poltergeist activity in your home? Most often, you'll know it if you have it because it is out of the ordinary and pretty obvious: sounds, movements, and odors of unknown origin.

Below are 7 of the most common types of poltergeist activity.

Let’s be clear, just because you experience - or think you experience - one or more of the activities listed below does not automatically mean that it definitely is poltergeist activity. There could be more mundane, everyday causes for the activity. For example, smells of unknown origin could be wafting in from an open window; lightings flickering on and off could be faulty wiring.

You should seek logical explanations before jumping to the conclusion that it is poltergeist activity because true poltergeist activity, although it is a well-documented phenomenon with many hundreds of real cases, is relatively rare. A professional investigator might be able to help you to determine the cause of what you are experiencing.Having said that, here are

7 signs to recognize:

1 - DISAPPEARING OBJECTS

You put your set of keys or your cell phone down in the place you always put it. You turn around a minute later and it's gone. You and your family search high and low for it, but it cannot be found. Later - sometimes days later or longer - the object mysteriously reappears in the very place you always put it.

Or, more bizarrely, you later find it in a most ridiculous place, like high on a bookshelf, in a shoe box in the closet... or some other spot where you'd never put it in a million years. In one of the places that I lived, my bread kept being moved to on top of the fridge. I know I didn’t move it and as a single mom, I knew my kids were far too little to do it.

2 - OBJECTS LEVITATING OR THROWN

You're sitting there watching TV, totally engrossed in a dramatic movie, when suddenly the bowl of popcorn you've been munching from rises from the coffee table, floats through the air a few feet, then drops to the floor. Or... sometimes it is just something like the remote vibrating on its own. It takes a lot of energy to move things so the movement could be small. The movement of physical objects like this can be quite dramatic and can be as slight as a box of matches sliding a few inches across a table top or as amazing as a heavy refrigerator levitating off the kitchen floor.

3 - SCENTS AND ODORS

No one in your house smokes, yet on occasion the distinct smell of cigarette or cigar smoke can be detected in the bathroom. Or... as you're dressing for bed, suddenly the overpowering scent of lilacs fills the room.

As stated above, all kinds of smells can enter your house from the outside, even from a passing car, so such scents might not necessarily mean poltergeist.

Such scents and odors can also be a sign of ghost activity as they might be associated with a spirit or with a residual haunting.

4 - ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE

Flickering lights are common with all kinds of ghosts as energy beings manipulation of electricity is well within their control. Your daughter is having a tough time in school, and sometimes when she enters the house with that scowl on her face, the overhead light and lamps flicker. Or... It's 3 o'clock in the morning and you're shocked out of sleep by the radio turning on full blast - and it's doesn't have a remote control that could have set if off accidentally, either from inside or outside the house.

5 - POWER FROM NOWHERE

That antique clock on the fireplace mantle hasn't worked in years, but it's a family heirloom and you like how it looks there, so you've kept it. Quite suddenly, it begins to chime and the second hand resumes moving, even though the clock hasn't been wound in ten years. Or... it's 9:15 p.m. and the little kids are sound asleep in bed when suddenly your son’s toy train begins to chug across the living room floor.

You think that's odd, but you switch it off and put it back down. A few minutes later, the little train starts up again. Thinking there's something wrong with the switch, you open the battery compartment to remove the batteries... but there are no batteries in it!

6 - KNOCKS, RAPPINGS, FOOTSTEPS, AND OTHER NOISES

You're alone at home and you hear in the other room banging on the wall. You go to investigate, but can find nothing. So where's that knocking coming from? Or... the family is quietly reading. Suddenly, everyone's attention is drawn to the sound of footsteps coming up the basement stairs. When checked out, of course there is no one there.

7 - PHYSICAL ATTACKS

Twelve-year old Alyssa can't stand how her parents are always fighting. The constant yelling and screaming are driving her crazy.

She sits on the floor in the corner of her room, crying with her face in her hands. She winces from a sudden pain on her back. When she checks it in a mirror, she finds fresh scratches. Or... the poltergeist activity - from unexplained bangs to flying coffee pots - has been escalating at in your household.

When investigated poltergeists are the result of a family member having psychic abilities (often unknown) and experiencing some form of trauma, which they have no safe outlet for. It is important to recognize this connection as you develop and are opened up to your own abilities, so you can learn more effective ways to channel them.

HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE A POLTERGEIST CASE?

An experienced paranormal investigator or parapsychologist might be able to help you determine if what is taking place in your home is poltergeist activity or a haunting - which can sometimes exhibit similar effects - or whether there is a logical, non-paranormal explanation.

In the case of a poltergeist, the investigator will look for other factors. Since poltergeist activity is a psychic effect rather than a spirit-based one, the investigator should try to determine who the agent is - the person who is generating the telekinetic activity.

Various kinds of stresses can be the cause of this activity, including emotional, physical, psychological, and even hormonal stresses, and so the investigator should try to examine the personal and family dynamics and very well might need to seek the help of therapists or counselors.

Or not. Most cases of poltergeist activity or short-lived, lasting only days or a few weeks. It is rare indeed that they stretch out for months or more. Most of the time they just fade away on their own.

Is it a ghost? Do I have a ghost? How can I tell if I have a ghost?

First begin to understand the situation that puzzles you by ruling out all explainable phenomena. Is it truly paranormal, in other words, extra ordinary? Can the strange activity be explained if one takes a closer look at the evidence? This type of questioning will eventually lead you to some solid answers.

As human beings, our minds have a tendency to work overtime and thus create situations that are very believable, and seemingly, paranormal at times. Look for natural causes of any strange events and be a little skeptical. This will help to keep you level-headed and calm while trying to conclude whether a place is haunted or not. A rational, but open mind, is the best tool in determining if the source of a possible haunting is indeed ghostly. So, don't jump to conclusions right off the bat. Calm your mind if spooked.

How to Tell if You Have a Ghost: Look for Ghost Signs The following are some descriptions of ghost activity, and thus, are common phenomena associated with haunting. It is important to remain unafraid and understand that a ghost is a person who is most likely wanting to be recognized by the living for assistance. Know that the following ghost phenomena are not all-inclusive:

• Cold spots are often reported. The manifestation of a ghost is believed to require energy, therefore the area of haunting could be cooler in temperature from the ghost using the energy in space. • Electrical disturbances, such as flickering lights and radios turning off and on, may occur. • Movement of physical objects, such as doors opening or closing, possessions being moved, etc. may be experienced. • Items missing or moved. Some report keys or important things disappearing or being relocated. • Water turning off and on. It's weird, but it will get your attention. And, ghosts often like getting our attention. • Goosebumps, chills, or the feeling that you are being watched. Some report being touched. Relax - it could be your grandma! • Sounds, such as foot steps, music, voices, whispers, rapping, banging, something being dropped, etc. • Balls or orbs of light that appear and float around. • Shadows moving about a room or in the corner of one’s eye. This is a very common experience. Many ghosts manifest as a dark mass. You may also see the ghost as an apparition (a transparent, human form). Apparitions may be seen full-bodied, but it is not unusual to see the glimpse of a hand, foot or torso. • Odd behavior from a pet is one of the most common haunting indicator. Animals are very in tune with spirits around them. • Unexplained or known fragrances of the deceased may be noticed. • Levitating objects have been witnessed, at times, though rare. • Mists or vapors may appear. Be sure to rule out steam or cigarette smoke.

Signs That Your House Is Haunted

Some haunting s feature a single phenomenon—such as a particular door slamming shut that occurs repeatedly—while others consist of many different phenomena, ranging from odd noises to full-blown apparitions.

Here's a partial list of phenomena that might indicate that your house is haunted:

  • Unexplained noises - Footsteps; knocks, banging, rapping; scratching sounds; sounds of something being dropped. Sometimes these noises can be subtle; other times they can be quite loud.

  • Doors, cabinets, and cupboards opening and closing - Most often, these phenomena are not seen directly. Residents of the house may hear doors opening and closing (homeowners know quite well the distinctive sounds their houses make) or may return to a room to find a door open or closed when they are certain that it was left in the opposite position. Sometimes furniture, like kitchen chairs, may seem to have been moved. Very rarely will residents of a haunted house actually witness the phenomenon as it takes place.

  • Lights turning off and on - Likewise, these events are seldom experienced as they occur. Rather, the lights are switched on or off when the house's resident knows they were not left that way. This can also happen with TVs, radios and other electrically powered items.

  • Items disappearing and reappearing - This is known as the Disappearing Object Phenomenon (DOP) "the DOPler Effect" (DOP = Disappearing Object Phenomenon) or "the borrowers" phenomenon, and it's the familiar experience of not being able to find a regularly used item—say, your set of car keys—which you believe you placed in a spot you routinely place them. But they're gone and you look high and low for them with no success. Sometime later, the keys are found—in exactly the place you normally put them. It's as if the object was borrowed by someone or something for a short time, then returned. Sometimes they are not returned for days or even weeks, but when they are, it's in an obvious place that should not have been missed by even a casual search.

  • Unexplained shadows - The sighting of fleeting shapes and shadows, usually seen out of the corner of the eye. This phenomenon has also been discussed in some detail in "Shadow People." Many times, the shadows have vaguely human forms, while other times they are less distinguishable or smaller.

  • Strange animal behavior - A dog, cat or other pet behaves strangely. Dogs may bark at something unseen, cower without apparent reason or refuse to enter a room they normally do. Cats may seem to be "watching" something cross a room. Animals have sharper senses than humans, and many researchers think their psychic abilities might be more finely tuned also. (See "Animals and Ghosts" )

  • Feelings of being watched - This is not an uncommon feeling and can be attributed to many things, but it could have a paranormal source if the feeling consistently occurs in a particular part of the house at a particular time.

These are some of the most common experiences of those who think their houses are haunted. Yet even stranger things can happen...

Strong Evidence of a Haunting

The following phenomena are rarer, but could be stronger evidence of a haunting:

  • Mild psychokinetic phenomena - Hearing a door open or close is one thing. Actually seeing it happen is quite another. Similarly, actually seeing a light go on or off by itself is greater proof that something unexplained is happening. Do you see the TV or radio turn on? Perhaps you're present when a child's powered toy begins to operate on its own. Doors and windows are locked or unlocked. Some people report that when they are in bed they can feel and/or hear something sitting on the bed.

  • Feelings of being touched - Feeling an unexplained touch is truly unsettling. Some people may feel something brush past them, a light brush of their hair, or a "hand" on the shoulder. Some feel a gentle poke, push or nudge.

  • Cries and whispers - On occasion, muffled voices, whispering and crying can be heard. Sometimes it's music from some unknown source. People hear their names being said. This phenomenon, as is true for the one above, gains more credibility if more than one person hears or sees the same thing at the same time.

  • Cold or hot spots - Cold spots are classic haunting symptoms; any instance of a noticeable variance in temperature without a discernible cause could be evidence.

  • Unexplained smells - The distinct fragrance of a perfume or cologne that you do not have in your house can indicate a supernatural presence. This phenomenon may come and go without any apparent cause, and may accompany other phenomena, such as shadows, voices or psychokinetic phenomena. The odor may be pleasant or foul.

Extreme or Poltergeist Phenomena

Rarer still are more extreme phenomena, some of which have been called poltergeist phenomena, and can be quite strong evidence of a true haunting.

  • Moving or levitating objects (severe psychokinetic phenomena) - Dinner plates sliding across the table; pictures flying off walls; doors slamming shut with great force; furniture sliding across the floor.

  • Physical assault - Scratches, slaps, and hard shoves. This kind of personal assault is extremely rare, but obviously highly disturbing.

  • Other physical evidence - Unexplained writing on paper or walls; handprints and footprints.

  • Apparitions - Physical manifestation of a spirit or entity. These phenomena are also very rare and can take many forms: human-shaped mists or forming mists of some indistinguishable shape; transparent human forms that disappear quickly; and most rarely, human forms that look as real and solid as any living person, but that disappear into a room or even while being viewed.

Considering all of the above, if you suspect your house is indeed haunted, here's what to do about it.

If you suspect that your house is haunted, here's what you can do to find out, then take some action

IF THERE ARE weird, unexplained things going on in your house -- unexplained sounds, sights, movements, or other signs of a haunting -- here are the steps you should take.

RULE OUT RATIONAL EXPLANATIONS

A person who has experienced some of these phenomena might have cause to believe that his or her house is haunted. But maybe not. In fact, according to most experts, probably not. The human mind and human senses (as any magician will tell you) are easily fooled. And people can often mistake explainable (if unusual) occurrences in their homes for the paranormal.

Before you decide there's a ghost in your house or move out from fear, do your best to find rational explanations for what you are experiencing. Virtually all of the phenomena listed in "16 Signs That Your House is haunted" could have perfectly natural causes:

  • Noises could be house settling, plumbing or even vermin such as mice and squirrels

  • Opening and closing doors could be faulty hinges or caused by drafts

  • Disappearing objects (DOPler phenomena) could just be carelessness and forgetfulness

  • Shadows could be just that - shadows caused, perhaps, by a passing car's headlights

  • As real as some of these things might seem to you, they really could be just products of your imagination

Of course, the more extreme the phenomena, the harder they are to dismiss. And if multiple witnesses experience the same phenomena, they are likely to be taken more seriously.

Get help in finding rational explanations for the phenomena. A plumber might help you find the cause of that banging. A carpenter can fix that door from closing on its own. A friend or neighbor might be able to look at your particular experience in a different way and offer a reasonable explanation for your "haunting" that you might not have thought of. In short, make every possible effort to prove that your house is not haunted.

KEEP A JOURNAL

If you feel you have ruled out rational explanations for the phenomena that are taking place in your house, and they are still occurring on a more or less regular basis, document them. Keep a journal of the phenomena as they happen. For example:

  • June 2, 2011; 10:30 p.m. - Was sitting watch TV when the bathroom light switched on by itself. Went in and turned it off again.

  • June 10, 2011; 9:14 p.m. - Was in the kitchen and heard the footsteps crossing the upstairs hallway again. No one was up there. Went up to investigate and could find no cause. A journal such as this could help with any formal investigation of the phenomena by experts.

If you hear unexplained noises, attempt to record them with a portable tape recorder. If there are physical phenomena of any kind, photograph or videotape them. Keep your journal, recording and camera equipment readily available so you can document the phenomena as it happens.

CALL THE EXPERTS

When should you call a paranormal investigator? Only when you have ruled out any rational explanations for the phenomena you are experiencing and are thoroughly convinced that your house is truly haunted should you contact the experts. Of course, if the phenomena are extreme and you feel that you and your family are in any kind of physical or psychological danger, you should call for help right away.

Who are the experts? There are hundreds of paranormal investigation organizations across the U.S. and Canada. You can find a state-by-state listing of many of them here, although I cannot vouch for the expertise of any of them. Most certainly, they vary in expertise and in the degree of their practical experience, so you should be careful in your choice.

Despite whatever strangeness you are experiencing, your house probably is not haunted. But if it is, perhaps it is a benign spirit or phenomenon that you can live with. Usually, it is something you need not fear.
